Seminar Description:
The IT Production Department is the "engine room" of IT, responsible for the day-to-day Operational Support of IT Infrastructure and Applications.
To many, this role is similar to painting the Forth Road Bridge, with new applications and infrastructure being deployed on a daily basis.
IT Production Managers, at the same time, know that their data centres are becoming more heterogeneous, support costs are rising, new technologies require addition support resources, and budgets are being squeezed.
This seminar explores the complexities of the IT Production Manager's role, covering Management Techniques (including use of KPIs and Processes) with Technical Strategy (including Software Tools and Architecture Standards). Using the "MOPS" Strategic Approach, the seminar will also discuss:
- Ways to help justify IT Production expenditure to the Business.
- How the potential benefits of Infrastructure Software Tools can be realised.
- Where process frameworks such as ITIL can add value.
- Ensuring that new projects are supportable before they are deployed to Production
Target Audience:
IT Managers and their staff with responsibility for Operational mid-range systems
